Henry shall be taking a selection of paintings, works on paper and photography to the Battersea Decorative Fair from 4-9 October 2022. The fair is held at Evolution London, Battersea Park, London SW11 4NJ.

Although most famous for his portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth in the NPG, from the late 1970s up until his retirement from painting in 2009, Leonard created a series of paintings celebrating the male figure. The nude, particularly the male nude, has been a recurring theme in his work. “I am fascinated by the subtle interactions of muscle, bone and sinew that come into play as a body moves…”

This wonderfully painted study, not only demonstrates the artist’s extraordinary painterly skills, but also unusually for such a study, they have sensitively captured the character of the model.
Christian Bérard, (French 1902-1949), Etude de Dancer, pen and ink on paper, 27cm x 20cm, (54cm x 48cm framed), £2,000. Provenance: Alexander Iolas Gallery, New York.
Bérard was a French artist, designer and fashion illustrator. Alongside his artistic career, he played an important role in the development of theatrical design in the 1930s and 1940s. He also worked as a fashion illustrator for Coco Chanel, amonst others. Bérard also designed for Jean Cocteau's film La Belle et la Bête (1946). After his sudden death in 1949, Cocteau dedicated his film Orphée (1950) to him.
Yves Paradis, (French b.1955), Sieste dans le Grenier à Foin, 1986, silver print, signed, titled and dated on mount and signed (verso), 40cm x 30cm, (50cm x 40cm in mount), unframed.
Paradis is noted for his soft, romantic, and tender approach to photography, visualizing an everyday gay lifestyle away from the glitz and glamour of the scene.
